Jacob began fencing in 2015 right as he was graduating from UC Davis with a degree in Community Development. With an interest in fencing and community building, Jacob quickly solidified himself as an active member of the academy. While rising through the skill proficiencies in the club, he assisted with many of the club’s social media accounts. However, Jacob’s real passion is expanding the community by teaching others about the richness of fencing.

With a background in counseling at risk youth and leading yearly summer camps, Jacob was the natural choice to lead the development of SHFA’s youth program. As the Youth Program Instructor Jacob’s goal is to get children and young adults interested in HEMA by creating a fun and challenging environment to develop their fencing. He aims to provide an experience which will create opportunities for character development while growing fundamental fencing skills.

In addition to his role as Youth Program Instructor, Jacob also helps the academy by reaching out to local college organizations to develop fencing communities. He is currently teaching classes and providing administrative support for the UC Davis Historical Fencing Club with the goal of giving college students the opportunity to become skilled fencers.
